Was I wrong for asking my grandfather for money?

Is your grandfather competent to make his own decisions? If so your mom has nothing to be angry about. He chose to give you the money. She has no say over what other family members do. I doubt she will be so angry that she would miss your wedding. But, if this causes too much conflict with her you could talk to your grandfather about considering the money a loan and pay him back over time.
