Are abused men/fathers more likely to abuse their children than abused women/mothers?

It is my observation that mothers are just as likely to abuse their children as fathers. Fathers are more likely to cause physical injury that can be seen. Mothers are more likely to inflict emotional abuse or injuries that cannot easily be seen.
